Celebrated our first anniversary with a 7 mile float. We weren't sure we'd get kayaks because of a group that had reserved before us, but they got us 2!
They left our group stranded for well over an hour at the pick up spot. Didn't even get so much as an apology or explanation. We will never be back and will definitely spread the word.
I've rented many times from Elk River and loved it every time. I remember when Ben just worked there as a guide, and was fresh out of school. Anyone who doesn't love this place did not read the "stress free zone" sign. Leave your stress and anger at home and you will fall in love!
Shuttle service from the pick up point took an hour and thirty mins (it's only a 10 minute drive). The shuttle did not have functional A/C, which is a big deal when you pack 12+ people in it on a 90 degree day. All of the life preservers are moldy and very old. Many of the canoes/paddles were damaged. Way too expensive for very poor customer service and ancient equipment. They were very happy to take my money though!
After over 15 years I will never go back our last family float trip was a disaster. Used to get friendly service now all they care about is getting money. Once hey are paid they become rude and uncooperative and overall lazy. There are so many other float and campgrounds in this area do yourself a favor and go anywhere else. Look for a place with new equipment without holes like elk.
